2014 Subaru Forester 2.0XT Touring

March 18th, 2013 at 6:12 pm

I had a chance to drive a 2014 Subaru Forester 2.0XT Touring edition over the weekend. This newly re-designed Forester features a more ‘sleeper’ turbo set up than previous Subarus. How did they make it more ‘sleeper’? They removed the hood scoop! Blasphemy for certain. By adding some ducting from the front grill, along the underside of the hood and onto the top-mounted intercooler, Subaru has reduced drag and that instant visual recognition the SUV has a turbo.

Aesthetically, the front fascia features a sharper, stylized bumper and headlights, along with a more ‘Impreza’-ish front grill. This Forester seems to be quite a bit taller, and spacious than previous iterations of the model.

Featuring a CVT transmission to smoothly turn all four wheels, all the time, the power curve was very smooth and linear. Accelerating from a stop, before you realize it, you are at speed.

The satellite/HD radio with Harmon/Kardon speakers sounded great. I did not get a chance to try CDs or any auxiliary sound, however, the satellite and HD radio stations came through crisp and sounded great.

A reverse camera, automatic rear lift gate, puddle lights and some LED illumination from the side mirrors round out some of the other features that come with this Subaru Forester.

Overall, I was very impressed with the Subaru, while it didn’t have a manual transmission, the CVT far from disappointed!

Chipping away at our rights

February 19th, 2013 at 7:13 pm

It is already a known fact that legislators across the country have been working diligently on whittling away our rights for years. The citizenry seems to be growing weaker and even more complacent, seemingly inviting more intrusions into their lives by the powers-that-be.

Yet another assault on the unalienable rights, which receive guaranteed protection from governmental intrusion via the Constitution, has been launched by a legislator who was the butt of some parody laced free speech via image manipulation software. Apparently, the gentleman did not find the humor in his head/face being ‘shopped onto a porn star’s body.

What is a legislator to do when the butt of a joke? Write laws to make those jokes illegal.
